THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
This course explores leadership paradigms that inform the nurse and the profession. The pertinent literature related to leadership within nursing and the broader health care environment is critically analyzed and applied. Topics include, but are not limited to: a) exploration of leadership frameworks in nursing and health care; b) critique of leadership theories; and c) examination of leadership’s impact on patients and communities, the role of the nurse, the profession, and the health care system. The foci of the course are the exploration, critical analysis, and application of theory and research findings related to leadership.
