Marie-Lee Yous, a graduate of the School of Nursing’s PhD program and a research trainee in the Aging, Community and Health Research Unit (ACHRU), has recently won a postdoctoral award from the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

The application process for this award is highly competitive. The award is valued at $100,000 spread over two years. According to the society, The Alzheimer Society Research Program (ASRP) makes funding decisions based on excellence, as assessed by peer review. Applications are evaluated on aspects including the proposed research and training environment, as well as an applicant’s potential as a future scientist.

“Receiving this award will help me build a research career in Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. I am grateful to receive this prestigious award that places me among the innovative and leading Canadian researchers who are passionate about improving the lives of persons living with dementia and family and friend caregivers. This award will allow me to design and implement a national Virtual Community of Practice which includes an interactive website, an online toolkit, and discussion forums for caregivers. A community of practice is a group of people who share common challenges and want to enhance their knowledge through regular interactions and peer support,” says Yous.

Congratulations, Marie-Lee!
