The McMaster University School of Nursing has a history of being one of the most research intensive schools or faculties of nursing in Canada.
Our partnerships both internal and external to McMaster University strengthen our research capacity and contribute to our success. We have attracted operating grants and career awards from numerous agencies, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Areas of Excellence
The areas of excellence reflected in our research activities and our teaching are:
- illness prevention
- health equity and disparity
- health system integration and innovation
We also have faculty expertise in Research Tools and Methodologies, and Knowledge Exchange and Translation.
Our faculty conduct research in topics such as heart and stroke diseases, diabetes, healthy aging, child and maternal health, mental health, cancer, and more.
Our students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels benefit greatly from teaching and guidance that is based on the expertise and research discoveries of our faculty members.
