Alteration coming in McMaster-Mohawk-Conestoga BScN program
Nov 25, 2022
The nursing partnership between McMaster University, Mohawk College and Conestoga College will be undergoing some changes and while these will not impact current students, it will alter how we work together.
We are currently working through the details of a plan that will end the current three-way consortium. This will be replaced with a new two-way consortium between McMaster and Mohawk, and with Conestoga applying to the province to deliver its own nursing degree. These plans, once approved by the province, will allow all three partners to continue to deliver the highest quality nursing education to support Ontario’s healthcare needs.
All students of the Conestoga BScN program will continue as planned over the next several years, including one more Conestoga intake of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) students in the fall 2023 in the three-way consortium program. The programs for McMaster and Mohawk students will also continue as planned and no student will be disadvantaged by the restructuring. Recruitment for the fall 2023 classes across all three sites will continue.
There are still many details to be worked out regarding the transition and a group will be put in place to ensure that this is done effectively and with minimal disruption to the programs.
We will continue to share information as it is available. If you have any questions please send these along to Joanna Pierazzo (pierazj@mcmaster.ca), Karen Ball (karen.ball4@mohawkcollege.ca), or Heather Cross (hcross@conestogac.on.ca).
