Welcome to new full-time faculty for 2022

The School of Nursing extends a warm welcome to new full-time faculty who joined us this year.
Dr. Jason De Melo – Jason returns to McMaster as a full-time assistant professor, teaching track, having earned his PhD in Medical Sciences here in 2014. Since then, he has researched new drug targets for cancer therapies at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and taught courses on genome editing, health research methodology and workshops on healthcare professional education at the Michener Institute, the University of Toronto and St. Michaels Hospital. These experiences will inform his new role within the School of Nursing. As part of the BScN Science team, Jason will be teaching biochemistry, nutrition, and pathophysiology.
Dr. Shaunattonie (Shauna) Henry – Shauna joined McMaster as a full-time assistant professor, teaching track, in July 2022. Shauna is a McMaster University alumni, graduating with a PhD (Nursing) in 2021. Her PhD research focussed on the prevention of chronic post-surgical pain. She has taught at McMaster as a part-time faculty member for 3 years, in HTHSCI 4NR3 Nursing Research and HTHSCI 3C04 Critical Appraisal in the BScN program. She is a registered nurse with extensive nursing and leadership experience in acute care, interventional cardiology, simulation-based education and infection prevention and control.
