Welcome to new full-time faculty for 2021

The School of Nursing extends a warm welcome to new full-time faculty who joined us this year.
Alida Bowman - Alida joined McMaster as a full-time assistant professor in January 2021. Prior to this, Alida has enjoyed teaching both PBL/PBL and Professional Practice courses as a part-time faculty member at McMaster University School of Nursing for over 10 years. She is the Level 4 Lead and Preceptorship Chair. She participated as a co-lead in accreditation for McMaster University School of Nursing. Alida is an experienced teacher and leader. She is a registered nurse who graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Masters of Science in Nursing at D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York.
Vanessa Cavalieri - Vanessa began her teaching career as a sessional instructor and joined the School of Nursing as a full-time assistant professor in August 2021. Vanessa has worked in all levels, streams and sites of the BScN Undergraduate Program and has extensive experience teaching Professional Practice (both hospital and simulation lab setting), as well as PBL/PBL courses. Vanessa is a McMaster University alumni, graduating with a BScN in 2009 and her MSc in 2013.
Stephen Gandza – Stephen joined McMaster as a full-time assistant professor in August 2021. Prior to this, he worked at McMaster as a part-time faculty member for 11 years, teaching professional practice and PBL across all levels of the BScN program. He is a registered nurse with extensive experience in medical and surgical nursing. He has also worked as a sessional faculty member at Mohawk College and Niagara college. He is currently the course planner for the professional practice courses for the Accelerated BScN Stream.
