Dr. Janet Landeen was presented with the Health Professions Educator award at the Norman Education Research Day on June 5th by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre.
“It is such an honour to be acknowledged by the Faculty of Health Sciences for my work over the past 32 years at McMaster. There are so many colleagues from across the Faculty who have inspired, taught, and nurtured me along this journey," said Landeen, who is retiring later this year.
The Health Professions Educator Awards “acknowledge continued excellence in health professions education and scholarship within McMaster University. This award recognizes an individual’s contributions to health professions education via classroom / clinical teaching, graduate supervision, mentorship and scholarship (innovation and/or research).” It is administered by The McMaster Education Research, Innovation and Theory (MERIT) Program.
Dr. Jonathan Sherbino, professor of Medicine, assistant dean of Health Professions Education Research, remarked that, "Dr. Landeen was recognized for sustained and continuing excellence in education scholarship, graduate supervision and innovation in nursing education. The success of the Faculty of Health Sciences is built on the contributions made by individuals such as Dr. Landeen."
