Lynn Martin

Bio

Lynn Martin began with McMaster University in 2000 and is currently a Teaching Professor in the School of Nursing and a MacPherson Teaching Fellow. Lynn teaches in both the Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing programs, the Masters of Health Sciences in Education program, and is the current Lead for Level 2 nursing courses and Chair of the Undergraduate Awards Committee within the School of Nursing.

Honours

Lynn was the inaugural recipient of the Paul R MacPherson Fellowship for exemplary teaching practices. Through this Fellowship she was able to work with the McMaster Institute for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching and Learning to develop a Program Review and Enhancement Guidebook to be used across the University. Lynn has also been recognized by the McMaster Student Union with a Teaching Award.

Research

Lynn’s primary research interests include educational research (scholarly teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning, patient safety in nursing education, program evaluation/quality improvement, clinical skill development etc.), faculty development and surgical nursing. Lynn has received funding from the MacPherson Institute to hire 8 student partners between 2015 – 2019 to work on projects related to curriculum.

Courses

Lynn teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs as well as the Masters of Health Science Education program.

Graduate Teaching

Graduate teaching focuses on health science education courses, advising graduate students interested in education, and involvement on PhD committees.

Undergraduate Teaching

Undergraduate teaching includes professional practice (clinical), problem-based learning and research courses. As a teaching professor, Lynn is committed to excellence in teaching, learning and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
