Bio
Alida Bowman retired from McMaster in 2022.
She joined McMaster as a full time Assistant Professor in January 2021. Prior to this, Alida has enjoyed teaching both PBL/PBL and Professional Practice courses as a part-time faculty member at McMaster University School of Nursing for over 10 years. She is the Level 4 Lead and Preceptorship Chair. She participated as a co-lead in Accreditation for McMaster University School of Nursing. Alida is an experienced teacher and leader. She is a Registered Nurse who graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Masters of Science in Nursing at D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York. Prior to working at McMaster University, Alida was on faculty at D’Youville College. In addition to her teaching career, Alida was a Clinical Manager in Pediatric inpatient and outpatient units for over 20 years at McMaster Children’s Hospital. She has over 30 years of experience in paediatric and maternal health nursing, and management, specializing in family-centered care, quality care, interprofessional collaboration, pain management, quality improvement, caring and leadership. She has a passion for student-centered teaching and learning.
